KOTA KINABALU: Four people, including two women who are students from private learning institutions, were detained by police in connection with the armed robbery case of a prominent businessman cum lawyer who loss about RM300,000 cash at the latter’s law firm office in Luyang on July 16.
The suspects, in their 20s, were arrested by police inside a Honda Civic car near the central market, here around 8pm on August 8.
Deputy city police chief Superintendent M. Chandra said the arrest of the four suspects has brought the total number of 14 arrested made by the police in connection with the armed robbery case of a businessman cum lawyer.
Chandra said police believed another suspect, who is said to be one of the masterminds in the case, is still at large.
“Police are now looking for the last suspect, identified as Mohd Riddzy Foo, 20, from Taman Nossob, Kobusak, Penampang.
“Anyone with information pertaining to the whereabouts of Mohd Riddzy to immediately contact the police hotline at 088-221 191 or the nearest police station,” said Chandra.
Businessman cum lawyer, Datuk Joseph Ambrose Lee’s (photo) ‘Labuan House’ law firm in Luyang was broken into by four men after overpowering a security guard who was taking a nap around 2.10am on July 16.
It was believed that the 44-year-old security guard had fallen asleep while on duty when three men snuck up on him and covered his face with a cloth before tying both his hands.
They then brought him to a room outside the house where a Filipina maid was sleeping.
The robbers forced entry into the main house via a window where they forced open a safe containing RM10, 000, USD10, 000 (RM38, 000), S$120, 000 (RM240, 000), three watches and personal documents including passports.
